Calvin Hudson's career at The Hartford Financial Services Corporation spanned more than 34 years after he joined The Hartford in 1973. He fully retired at the end of 2006 after having had responsibility for a national organization of over 6500 employees handling over 1.5 million claims a year and a $7.5 billion budget. He was promoted to the position of Operations Improvement Consultant in 1978 charged with enhancing the company performance in areas of operations, marketing and systems. Through1984-2000, he held the positions of Director of Field Operations, Staff Assistant to the Chairman of the Board, Assistant Vice President, Workers Compensation, Vice President Workers Compensation and Managed Care, Senior Vice President, Group Senior Vice President and Executive Vice President of World Wide Property and Casualty Company. During his career, he served as the Chairman of National Insurance Crime Bureau; Chairman of the American Insurance Association Claim Council; Chairman of the Chief Claim Officer's Roundtable, while also representing the company on the Insurance Service Office Claim Council; The Workers Compensation Research Institute and Community Service, Inc. As a well respected leader in the insurance industry, Mr. Hudson was invited to the White House in 1994 to address President Clinton's Healthcare Reform Task Force. In 2002, he was named on the "50 Most Powerful Black Executives in America" by Fortune magazine. In 2006, he was selected as one of the region's top 5 "Most Prominent Black Business Leaders" by Hartford magazine. |
